Foy by JellyPop Shoes Review

About a month or so ago, I was looking for some new black heels and came across a brand I hadn’t seen before. I had kind of given up on buying a pair that day when some brightly patterned sole designs caught my eye. Hello JellyPop.

Honest to goodness, I really had never heard of JellyPop before. Which is shocking because I have seen them in so many stores since. Not to mention their adorable, brightly colored shoe boxes. I should have noticed those before, at least! I might have fallen in love with them before the shoes. (really. I saved the shoe box.)

JellyPop Foy Side

I tried on a couple models of their shoes, but settled on buying Foy in the end. It’s a really sleek, satin covered design with an adorable kitten heel and a round toe. Not too high, not too flat. The heel is about two inches tall according to Amazon.

In addition to the satin, there’s a really subtle bow on the toes and it’s really one of the few things that attracted me to the model in the first place. The other model I had looked at  (Cheney, I think?) had a bow that really wasn’t that subtle and struck me as a bit juvenile and childish looking. The bow on the Foy model was much more subdued and actually gave it a really classy look.

And did I mention how much I love the floral design on the soles?

JellyPop Foy Close Up

I am so in love with these shoes. I’ve worn them every appropriate chance that I’ve had (which is fairly difficult in the summer) and they’ve held up so well. They did kind of kill my feet once after a four hour stretch I had in them recently, but that also happened to be the day that I was made to do jumping jacks in them. Apparently I didn’t get the memo that there would be jumping involved that day.

JellyPop Foy

If you’re looking for a reasonably priced pair of heels that holds up well and isn’t super uncomfortable, I really recommend Foy by JellyPop. They’re cute, at a reasonable height, didn’t cause me to fall when I had to do jumping jacks in them (what? I didn’t think about taking them off until afterwards), and, girl, have I not mentioned how cute the soles are?

Interested in purchasing? You can buy JellyPop’s Foy on Amazon starting at $29.99. Aren’t they a steal?

Have you ever heard of JellyPop before? Or am I the only one out of the know? Let me know in the comments below!

Anxiety by Ladyhawke Review

Anxiety Ladyhawke

Artist: Ladyhawke
Album: Anxiety
Genre: Alternative Rock
Label: Modular Recordings

I can’t remember when exactly I found Ladyhawke, but they’re a band I keep going back to over and over. Especially for their album, Anxiety. It’s a fun album that’s a little different than their others. Its vintage alternative sound just calls to me.

My Opinion

Ladyhawke really captures the reminiscent vintage sound of this era. While their genre is alternative rock, I tend to think of them as in that in-between genre of alternative pop-rock, or something like that. The sound is fun and different. The lyrics are a definite change from the normal too. Why?

In my research, the songs in Anxiety are related to Asperger’s Syndrome, as the singer had just been diagnosed with it before writing the album. I can only assume that this is the reason the lyrics are so different and unique. I love so many of the songs that are on this album. It’s hard to choose exact favorites. I’ve been listening through the album this morning to try and decide which are my favorites, but I can’t make up my mind. They’re all so good. However, I really enjoy Vanity because it was one of the first songs by them that I heard. And Black White & Blue. From there it’s probably a toss up between Girl Like You and Sunday Drive.

I love the interesting, monochrome album art, too. It really fits the title Anxiety. Her face is made up of many faces (voices?). I just think it’s really unique and perfect for the album.

Favorite Lyric

Black White & Blue Ladyhawke

This line here is the first line from Black White & Blue. I love how true this lyric is. Time really isn’t easy when you’re alone. Especially when you think about it from an anxious standpoint.

Interested in checking out this awesome album? You can find Ladyhawke on YouTube or buy Anxiety on Amazon for $11.65.

A World of Tea Peppermint Tea Review

A World of Tea Peppermint Tea Review

My family and I have recently come down with a nasty cold. Because of this, we’ve all been drinking a lot of peppermint tea to sooth our throats.

Herbal tea isn’t usually what I reach for in my cabinet. I’m a girl who thrives on caffeine and will totally go for that first most of the time. However, sometimes I’d like something uncaffeinated in the afternoon and I’m a little less picky then. Peppermint tea is really one of my favorites to choose then.

A World of Tea Peppermint Tea Box

A World of Tea isn’t a brand that I thought would impress me with their tea. You can buy it at The Dollar Tree here and it’s really, really cheap. Most of the time I don’t expect much to come of these extra cheap products, but I was pleasantly surprised by A World of Tea’s Peppermint Tea.

A World of Tea Peppermint Tea

The smell alone is really refreshing. I’d never know that this was a cheap brand if someone simply gave this to me. It tastes great both hot and cool. I love to drink it during a good yoga workout session too. Namaste anyone?

A World of Tea Peppermint Tea Bag

The tea bags are actually pretty nice. I didn’t think I would like them at first, but it was actually somewhat helpful to have a bag without a string. I can just submerge the bag without worrying about the string falling in. Or am I the only person with that problem? I should really move to loose leaf.

Peppermint tea is my all-time herbal tea love. Whether you’re sick, trying to relax, or just craving something minty fresh, this is a perfect go-to drink.

Interested in buying some peppermint tea? While I can’t find A World of Tea online yet, Amazon has a great selection of peppermint tea.

ROSAvelt + Giveaway (ROSAvelt Tote Bag)

ROSAvelt Online + Giveaway

For those of you who don’t know me very well yet, I am a complete Twitter addict. I am constantly finding new bloggers, bands, authors, and fresh, unique companies on there all of the time. I’m proud to say that ROSAvelt limited edition clothing is one of the latter.

I got into contact with them, and they agreed to let me giveaway one of their tote bags (two different styles to choose from). I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly needing bags like these to carry to the beach or the pool and there have been so many days that I struggle to find a good, working bag for the purpose. You can find this giveaway and all the fun ways to enter down at the bottom of this post.

ROSAvelt ToteROSAvelt Backpack

One thing I absolutely ADORE about ROSAvelt is their vintage flair. While some of their clothes do strike me as modern, there are many other items that feel authentically vintage to me. In particular, I love their dresses.

ROSAvelt Vintage Gold Leaf Baroque Dress
ROSAvelt Lemon Yellow Embroidered Chiffon DressROSAvelt Paisley Printed Blue Structured Tulip Dress

ROSAvelt’s Vintage Gold Leaf Baroque Dress is so simple and pretty. It masters the whole vintage vibe. Actually, it reminds me of one of my mom’s old tablecloths, but in a good way. It just strikes me as capturing the vintage spirit, which makes tablecloth actually kind of classy in this case.

ROSAvelt’s Paisley Printed Blue Structured Tulip Dress is adorable and is similar in essence to the Vintage Gold Leaf Baroque Dress. While this really isn’t my favorite shape for a dress, I think this looks really cute (always helps to have a model wear it first, right?).

But my absolute favorite of the dresses wold be ROSAvelt’s Lemon Yellow Embroidered Chiffon Dress (also available in red). It’s so simple and elegant. Yellow is usually a color that I abhor wearing, but this dress is so pleasant. It makes me think of a tea party, really. While the red version of the dress would probably suit my complexion better, I really adore the lemon yellow version and will probably fawn over how it looks on anyone that suits it better than I would.

ROSAvelt also has other pieces that I find adorable that really catch the whole vintage vibe. Two I particularly like outside of the dresses department are their Neon Pink Embroidered Peplum Top and their Geometric Velour Skirt.

ROSAvelt Neon Pink Embroidered Peplum TopROSAvelt Geometric Velour Skirt

I’m usually not into neon pink either, but talk about the 70’s look here! I absolutely love it!

The only products that ROSAvelt has that I’m not very fond of are their trousers. I’m more of a denim and skinny jeans type girl when it comes to pants. However, their trousers are really trendy and I believe that many people will fall in love with them (and look fabulous).

I really recommend checking out ROSAvelt if you’re into the vintage style. And if they don’t cater to what you’re looking for quite yet, definitely keep an eye on them.

The White Apple by Of Verona Review

The White Apple

Artist: Of Verona
Album: The White Apple
Genre: Alternative/Indie

I found Of Verona a long time ago, but lately I’ve really been obsessing over their sound. The White Apple has this creepy sound that reminds me of operatic or gothic rock, but not quite. The songs are so beautiful and on the edge between fantasy and reality.

My Opinion

Of Verona has a style I find similar to MS MR, but with less of a horror theme to the lyrics. The words are full of fantastical ideas with a tinge of surreal reality. The offworld sound is just so beautiful mixed with the lyrics and the beautiful vocals. I love the variety of instruments in the songs too. I’m positive that I’ve heard an organ in the mix.

Not to mention the creativity. Half the reason I love operatic and gothic rock is because of all of the creative words and originality in creating the music. The White Apple isn’t all just your usual humdrum of music. It’s all interesting and not a one of the songs on the album have disappointed me. Some of my absolute favorites are Dark In My Imagination, Paint The Picture, Raining, We Are Not Alone Here, and Take Me. Five favorites because I couldn’t decide on less.

Not to mention the album art. . . Honestly, the album art of The White Apple is what first caught my attention and brought me to listen to Of Verona. It was just so clean and eerily interesting. It really gives a picture into their sound. I think they have a really clear, clean sound to them (also reminiscent of most operatic rock) with surreal lyrics. Besides, what isn’t interesting about a white apple floating over a pale hand?

Favorite Lyric

Paint The Pictures Of Verona

Photo taken by David DeHetre

There are so, so, so many lyrics I could put down as a favorite from this album (I mean, I couldn’t narrow down five favorite songs), but I love stars so I just went with this one. It’s from Paint The Pictures, which might just be the one I like most at the moment (easily tied with Raining).

Interested in checking the lovelies out? You can find Of Verona on YouTube and/or buy The White Apple (Deluxe Edition) on Amazon for $9.49.

6 Ways to Happily Dress for Success

6 Ways to Happily Dress for Success

Over the years I have received comments from multiple people asking me why I dress the way I do. Apparently it is strange for a teenager in the middle of the Florida summer to be dressed up in something fancier than a t-shirt and pair of shorts. They don’t understand how I could possibly be comfortable wearing anything different.

In reality, dressing the way I do makes me much happier than simply wearing a t-shirt and shorts every day (though, I do that plenty of days too). Why? Because I dress for success. And not just any success. My success.

What do I mean by my success? Quite simply, I mean I want to be happy with what I wear and feel confidant and successful on my own. After all, when you feel more confidant, success is a smaller jump away. It’s hard to learn how to dress for success and be happy with it, but easier than you’d think once you get the hang of it.

1.) Wear what you want to wear.

You’d think that this would be a no-brainer, right? But be honest with yourself: How many times have you said no to something you really wanted to wear because of some stupid excuse you came up with? “X person may not like it. . . What if it’s too flashy? Will I look like an idiot?”

Sometimes the answer to these questions is yes. But sometimes you’re just duping yourself.

2.) Don’t wear it if it makes you uncomfortable.

The above being said? Don’t wear it if it makes you uncomfortable at all. Looking uncomfortable is very obvious and won’t get you very far with others or yourself. If it’s something you really want to wear, slowly build up your confidence–take things one step at a time.

3.) Dress towards what you want to be.

First off, I’m not telling you to dress up in a firefighter costume if you want to be a firefighter. Dress towards what you want to be personally. Maybe you want to be more confidant? Perhaps you want to be sophisticated. Dress towards what you want to be. Not only will it help you create the image, but you’ll feel better about yourself.

4.) Do dress appropriately.

I think that this is pretty self explanatory, but don’t dress inappropriately. While I’m sure that some bosses will let you come to work like you walked out of Legally Blonde, most will consider this to be inappropriate. Do try to follow the above suggestions, but tone it down to fit your situation if it won’t be appropriate.

5.) Be confidant and wear a smile!

Nothing screams success like confidence (don’t be fake about it) and going places like a smile. When you’re confident and pleasant looking, you make everyone around you more confident about you. It’s really shocking when I go places. I end up getting so many comments on how I smile, it really makes me wonder just how many people skulk about with sullen faces.

6.) Be happy.

Overall, just be happy with yourself and the way that you dress. Once you’ve found what makes you happy, you’ve got the battle won.

Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea Review

Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea Box

I don’t know about you, but I love green tea. Lipton was the brand that first interested me in hot tea to begin with and I really enjoy most of what I’ve had from them. Their Mixed Berry Green Tea is no exception.

Ever since I was a kid, I wanted berry everything. If there was a berry flavor? I was all over it. To this day, really. Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea reminds me a lot of a fruit tea, but less sweet. I can still taste the green tea, but there is a strong fruity flavor subduing it. And unlike some teas where I know there’s fruit but can’t tell you what kind, it is very obvious that it’s a berry flavor here, and I love it.

Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea Bag

Not to mention the smell. I’m a sucker for things that smell good and this is one of my favorite smelling teas. It’s sweet, but not sickeningly so. It produces a really pleasant, fragrant scent that I enjoy having next to me. To be honest, I think I might like the smell more than I do the tea itself (that’s not sad, is it?).

Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea

For whatever reason, the lighting was horrid when I was taking these photos and the tea looks a lot darker than it really is in this photo. Really, the true color looks more like your average green tea, just a shade or two darker.

Interested in purchasing? You can buy Lipton Mixed Berry Green Tea on Amazon for $3.99.

About Last Night by Sleeper Agent Review

About Last Night

Artist: Sleeper Agent
Album: About Last Night
Genre: Pop-Punk
Label: RCA Records

I’m a new fan of Sleeper Agent’s. I heard them play live along with Fitz and The Tantrums and KONGOS a few weeks ago and fell in love with their peppy, pop-rock, and punk influenced sound. I love the happiness mixed with attitude in the sound and lyrics. Sleeper Agent is really fun and I love everything I’ve heard by them.

My Opinion

Despite the attitude in their vocals, Sleeper Agent has such a pleasant sound and feel. One thing I love about this era is how the two of these things mix and combine into an era of vintage looks, palm trees, and parties reminiscent of Coachella. I feel like Sleeper Agent puts all of this into their music and it makes their songs so much fun.

They also sound as though they’re having a ton of fun making the music, which really shines through. Be Brave is a favorite of mine because of that fun, happy sound. I’m also really fond of Take It Off and Waves. Waves is one that is growing really popular and while it wasn’t necessarily one of my favorites at first, it’s really really grown on me and is some of my pleasure music. Especially if I’m driving to the beach.

I also really love the punk, hipster-psychedelic album art with all of its shattered triangles. It’s fun, colorful, and I feel like it really gives you a taste of what you can expect to hear.

Favorite Lyric

Waves by Sleeper Agent

This is from Waves, which really shows how well they mix happy tunes and lyrics with attitude together. If you’re going to try out Sleeper Agent, Waves is a great place to start.

And, no, this is not my typography. My drawing tablet is still on the fritz, so I’m resorting to PicMonkey for now. What is it with technology some days?

Interested in checking them out? You can find Sleeper Agent on YouTube and buy About Last Night on Amazon for $6.99.

Multicolored Chevron Print Dress

Chevron Dress Close Up

I was a bit slow to jump onto the chevron bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong–I adore simple print styles like stripes, polka dots, and, of course, the chevron pattern. I just get turned off of things that I see overly promoted. However, this didn’t last long because chevron patterns are just too cute to be ignored.

Chevron Dress Close Up Looking Down

I am absolutely in love with this multicolored chevron print dress that I found on a sale rack in my local Rue21. It’s versatile, dark, cool, and utterly adorable. I’m not so sure that I pull off wearing leggings with it as much as I thought I did at the time, though this is just because I’m short. My sister bought the same dress in a different color scheme and it looks ah-mazing with leggings. Her legs are long enough for it. #shortpeopleproblems

Chevron Dress Full Angle

I’ve been working on reorganizing my jewelry (but not getting very far) this spring, so I didn’t wear much with this, but it’s a pattern that works really well with nice, simple jewelry. I stuck to some thin, simple silver and black colored bangles.

Chevron Dress Full Leaning

My chevron collection has slowly gotten larger lately and I don’t think it’s a trend that I’m going to disregard any longer.

No artwork this time because my drawing tablet is acting up.

As for the outfit itself:
Dress: Rue21 (Similar long sleeve
Similar long sleeve)
Leggings: Rue21 (Similar)
Boots: Candie’s

What do you think of the chevron pattern? Do you have a favorite way to wear it? Let me know in the comments below!

Timothy’s Pomegranate Blood Orange Tea Review

Timothy's Pomegranate Blood Orange Tin

I was given this tea as a gift awhile back. Anyone who knows me well knows that I love specialty teas. Sadly, some of them don’t really impress me. This was not the case with Timothy’s Pomegranate Blood Orange Tea.

I live in Florida, so I’m around a lot of citrus. Before I moved to the city, I lived on 2 acres of land that we filled with fruit trees–the majority of which were citrus. Because of this, I really love citrus. It’s one of those things that just takes me back to the days of key lime and kumquat pies.

Timothy's Pomegranate Blood Orange Tea Bag

Timothy’s takes the sweetness of blood oranges and infuses it into this lovely tea. It doesn’t taste as citrusy as a Lady Grey or an Earl Grey tea, but it’s sweet, rich, and produces a lovely smell. Besides, I just love the tin it comes in.

Timothy's Pomegranate Blood Orange Tea

It has a beautiful color too. I love that about black teas. There are so many different shades of color it can have. Timothy’s Pomegranate Blood Orange Tea has a beautiful, darkish honey brown color that I adore. And don’t you just love my owl mug?

Timothy's Tea and Owl Mug

This is definitely one of the best teas that I’ve had this year and I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a sweeter black tea that isn’t too strong or weak.

Interested in buying? You can find Timothy’s Tea on Amazon.

What have you been drinking lately? Have you tried Timothy’s before?
